Anne Frank | Timeline

Annelies Marie Frank (12 June 1929 – February or March 1945) was a German-born diarist and writer. She is one of the most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Her diary, The Diary of a Young Girl, which documents her life in hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II, is one of the world's most widely known books and has been the basis for several plays and films. June 12, 1929 - Frankfurt, Germany - Annelies Marie Frank is born
March 13, 1933 - Frankfurt - The Nazi Party wins the elections for the Municipal Council
December(?) 1(?), 1933 - Aachen - Edith (Anne's mother) and daughters arrive in Aachen to stay with her mother, Rosa Holländer
February 1(?), 1934 - Amsterdam, Netherlands - Anne, sister Margot and mother Edith arrive in Amsterdam
January 8, 1941 - Amsterdam - Jews are forbidden to have access to movie theaters
June 12, 1942 - Amsterdam - Anne Frank starts writing her diary, aged 13 =(START)
June 20, 1942 - Amsterdam - Anne Frank lists many of the restrictions that had been placed upon the lives of jews
July 6, 1942 - Amsterdam - The Frank family move to their hiding place, a secret annex
July 13, 1942 - Amsterdam - Three other people, the Van Pels family, join the Frank family in their hiding place
October 9, 1943 - Amsterdam - Diary entry: "Our many Jewish friends are being taken away by the dozen. These people are being treated by the Gestapo without a shred of decency, being loaded into cattle trucks and sent to Westerbork"

April 5, 1944 - Amsterdam - Anne Frank writes that she aspires to become a journalist
June 6, 1944 - Amsterdam - Great commotion in the "secret annexe" with news of D-Day on the british radio
July 21, 1944 - Amsterdam - Anne Frank is excited and optimistic while hearing on the radio about the attempt to kill Hitler
August 1, 1944 - Amsterdam - Last entry on the diary
August 4, 1944 - Amsterdam - Following a tip from an informer, the Franks, Van Pels and Pfeffer are taken
August 5, 1944 - Amsterdam - The Franks are transfered to the Huis van Bewaring (House of Detention)
August 7, 1944 - Westerbork Transit Camp, Hooghalen - The Franks are transported to the Westerbork transit camp
September 3, 1944 - Westerbork Transit Camp - The Franks are deported to Auschwitz
September 6, 1944 - Auschwitz - The Franks arrive in Auschwitz. All survive, including Anne, lucky to be 15 already
October 28, 1944 - Auschwitz - Selections begin for women to be relocated to Bergen-Belsen
November(?) 2(?), 1944 - Bergen-Belsen, Lower Saxony - Anne and sister Margot arrive in a group of 8,000 women. Edith stays in Auschwitz and later dies of starvation
February 7, 1945 - Bergen-Belsen - Anne Frank and sister Margot start displaying symptoms of typhus
March(?) 1(?), 1945 - Bergen-Belsen - Margot and Anne die of typhus around this date, in an epidemic that killed 17,000 other women in the camp =(END)
