Antonio Vivaldi | Timeline

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi; 4 March 1678 – 28 July 1741) was an Italian Baroque composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher and cleric. Born in Venice, he is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He is known mainly for composing many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as The Four Seasons.
 
March 4, 1678 - Venice - Antonio Vivaldi is born

January(?) 1(?), 1693 - Venice - Starts studying to become a priest
January(?) 1(?), 1703 - Venice - Vivaldi is ordained priest and immediatly gets the nickname of "il prete rosso" (the red priest), because of his red hair.
September 1(?), 1703 - Venice - Vivaldi becomes "Maestro di Violino" (master of violin) at the Ospedale della Pietà, an orphanage in Venice.
January(?) 1(?), 1704 - Venice - Vivaldi is given a dispensation from celebrating Mass because of his ill health. He had only said Mass a few times, but remained a priest.
January(?) 1(?), 1705 - ? - Publication of Vivaldi's Opus 1, a colection of twelve trio sonatas
January(?) 1(?), 1709 - ? - Publication of Vivaldi's Opus 2, a colection of twelve sonatas
January(?) 1(?), 1710 - Venice - Year as a freelancer after being voted to leave the Ospedale della Pietà.
February 1(?), 1711 - Brescia - Travels with his father to Brescia, where the Stabat Mater RV 621 was going to be played
September 27, 1711 - Venice - Reemployed at the Ospedale della Pietà by unanimous vote. Publication of his Op.3 "L'estro armonico"
April 30, 1713 - Venice - Gets one month off to prepare the première of his new opera in Vicenza
May 17, 1713 - Vicenza - Premiere of the opera "Ottone in Villa" RV 729
June 1(?), 1713 - Vicenza - Oratorio "La Vittoria Navale" in Vicenza
