Ludwig Van Beethoven | Timeline

Ludwig van Beethoven 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western art music, he remains one of the most famous and influential of all composers. His best-known compositions include 9 symphonies, 5 piano concertos, 1 violin concerto, 32 piano sonatas, 16 string quartets, his great Mass the Missa solemnis and an opera, Fidelio. March 26, 1778 - Cologne - Beethoven's first public performance, with 7 years old =(START)

April 1, 1787 - Munich - Beethoven reaches Munich, on his way to Vienna
April 7, 1787 - Vienna - Beethoven arrives in Vienna
April 12(?), 1787 - Vienna - Speculative date - 16-year old Beethoven is introduced to Mozart, and played to him at his request. Mozart, considering the piece he performed to be a studied show-piece, was somewhat cold in his expressions of admiration. Beethoven, noticing this, begged for a theme for improvisation, and, inspired by the presence of the master he revered so highly, played in such a manner as gradually to engross Mozart's whole attention; turning quietly to the bystanders, he said emphatically, "Mark that young man; he will make himself a name in the world!"
